Visit of the Ambassador in Douala and Kribi
Ms. Christine Robichon, Ambassador of France in Cameroon, visited Douala and Kribi from 17 to 19 February.
In her program:
A presentation on visas issue to the business community in front of a hundred people from the Employers’ Group of Cameroon (GICAM).
A visit of Orange Cameroon, where she was received by Ms. Elisabeth Medou Badang, Director General and her team, who presented their activities and development prospects, particularly for Orange Money.
The installation ceremony of 30 master fishermen to Bonamatoumbe, with Dr. Taiga, Minister of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries and Mr. Mounouna Foutsou, Minister of Youth and Civic Education. Under the AFOP program, financed by the C2D, those 30 young people have just completed a two-year training and receive help to start their offshore fishing. A second promotion of fishermen is being training.
A tour of the roasting plant Cafes Pierre André, in the industrial area of Bonaberi, which is a beautiful example of French private investment for the processing and export of Cameroonian agricultural products.
A meeting with Michèle Ndoki, winner of speeching contest death penalty which took place in Paris in October 2015 and was organized by the International Organization of the Francophonie and the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and the President of the Cameroon Bar, Jackson Ngie Kamga.
A tour of the deep water port of Kribi, where officials of the Operational Unit of industrial port complex of Kribi exhibited her work progress for the operation of the port, the biggest ongoing investment in Cameroon. Through the AFD, France is contributing € 20 million to fund a technical assistance provided by the ’Grand Port Maritime du Havre’ and studies on the development of the port area. French companies Bolloré Africa Logistics and CMA-CGM in association with China Harbour Engineering Corporation on the one hand and Necotrans in partnership with a group of Cameroonian port enterprises on the other, were selected to ensure, in concession, operations on terminals dedicated for containers and bulk respectively. The start of the deepwater port activities is expected by the end of 2016.
