French Volunteering Day (Oct. 14th, 2016)
Last Friday, October 14, 2016, the Volunteer Space of France Volontaires in Cameroon had the pleasure of organizing its French Volunteering Day at the Solomon Tandeng Muna Foundation in Yaoundé.
Established in 2010, this event’s 2016 edition was the occasion to highlight the link between volunteering, youth and social cohesion. The panel discussion "Perspectives for national volunteering and international for social cohesion" has helped to emphasize the current situation of volunteering in the country, the close ties between France and Cameroon, and to open new perspectives.
On the other hand, the international solidarity projects restitution in 2016 and the presence of several NGOs enabled the attendance to appreciate the dynamics and joint commitment throughout the territory. Finally, exhibitions of volunteer teams through various projects and of the Art’frika Sweet collective showed us the always augmenting diversity of actions undertaken in Cameroon for social cohesion.
France Volontaires Cameroon would like to thank all of its guests to have participated to the event, particularly Mr. Philippe Larrieu, Minister Counsellor of the French Embassy to Cameroon, and Mr. Yves Tokambou Nteme, Director of the Social Integration of Youth and Volunteering in the Ministry of Youth and Civic Education. Thanks to all participants and volunteers for coming; see you next year !
