Closure of the Judiciary Investigation Against Terrorism Training(Oct. 10-23, 2016)
The certificate-awarding ceremony ending the anti-terrorism training at the Training Center in Judiciary Police of the Gendarmerie of Yaoundé took place on October 21st, 2016. The ceremony was chaired by Mr. Jean-Baptiste Bokam, Secretary of State for Defence in charge of the National Gendarmerie of Cameroon, in the presence of Mr. Martin, Delegate General for National Security, H.E. Mr Gilles Thibault, Ambassador of France to Cameroon and the French Gendarmerie colonel Thierry Bonneau, Internal Security Attaché at the French Embassy.
This was a two-week training conducted by French Police Commander (st) Serge Dumont, from Monday 10th to Friday October 21st for 15 gendarmes and 15 police officers, all assigned to judicial police units within the Gendarmerie and the Cameroonian National Security. The focus of this training was put on legal tools, techniques and methodology of proactive or post-attack investigations, and all the difficulties inherent in the investigation on terrorism.
This specific training, initiated under the bilateral cooperation between the French and Cameroonian authorities, was provided to investigators on the following theme: "Judicial investigation adapted to the fight against terrorism ".
This type of training has been provided to Cameroonian police and gendarmes for two years already, as part of the fight against Boko Haram.
