The 5% Initiative has launched a call for proposals dedicated to operational research in order to improve the malaria response in the Central Africa and Greater Sahel regions.
The 5% Initiative is France’s additional mechanism to contribute to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. Operational management of this mechanism is carried out by Expertise France. The aim of the 5% Initiative is to respond to requests from countries - French-speaking countries in particular - and GF grant recipients for high-level technical expertise to support them and build their capacity in the design, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and impact measurement of GF grants.
The 5% Initiative has launched a call for proposals dedicated to test innovative strategies to improve the access, quality and efficiency of diagnostic, prevention and treatment services. The research proposals are broken down into three complementary and non-exclusive themes:
- Improving malaria prevention
- Improving early diagnosis and treatment of malaria
- Modeling to improve the efficiency of the response
Project duration must be between 24 and 48 months.
The total grant amount from the 5% Initiative must cover at least 50% of the project budget and be between € 500,000 and € 1,500,000.
