Bouba Moumini receives the decoration of Agricultural Merit
The Ambassador of France give the insignia of Knight of Agricultural Merit to Dr. Bouba Moumini on June 28 at a ceremony at the Residence of France.
The Agricultural Merit is an ancient honorary order instituted by the Minister of Agriculture in 1883. It is given to Dr. Bouba Moumini for his involvement and contribution to the success of the Program for Improving the Competitiveness of Agropastoral Family Farms ( ACEFA).
This former veterinary official at the Ministry of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries (MINEPIA) has been seconded from the Ministry as coordinator of the ACEFA program since 2007. It has led him to commit himself Reform of the support system for Cameroonian farmers.
The program, financed by the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) under the Debt and Development Contract (C2D), which was born in 2007 as a pilot scheme, has become a national support system for farmers. Today, 2000 councilors accompany more than 200 000 family farming agropastoral, and then 10% of the structures of this type in Cameroon.
In total, more than 400 productive projects of the group of farmers were supported financially each year. ACEFA has mobilized almost FCFA 70 billion to improve farmers’ management capacities, increase their production and enhance their products.
